Meet the Staff
Sean Gibson, Vice President & General Manager
Gibson has been in the broadcasting industry for a good part of nearly 30 years. He started his career as a newscaster and overnight announcer while obtaining his BBA at Georgia State University. After serving as morning news assistant at WDUN AM 550 in Gainesville, Ga. in the mid 90’s, Gibson joined Sutton Radiocasting as Operations Manager at WBCU in Union, SC handling sports play by play and hosting an afternoon show. In 2000 he managed the company’s then WGVC FM in Newberry, SC before being named as Vice President/General Manager of then WEHR FM/WWRK FM and WSGC AM in Elberton, Ga. in 2002. In addition to sales duties, Gibson continued on air work as morning show host and sports announcer for Elbert County Football and Washington-Wilkes Basketball. In 2008 he was named VP/GM of WFSC/WNCC in Franklin, NC. In addition to management duties, Gibson handles play by play for Cherokee High School Football and Basketball on 104.1 WNCC.
Gibson’s stations have won numerous awards in each of the markets he has served. Gibson’s community service work has included serving on Elbert County and Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce boards, Elbert County Salvation Army Advisory Board, Elbert County Community Partnership Board, Macon County Historical Society Board and currently serves on the Macon County Community Foundation Board. He has been a member of Rotary International for 14 years. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Franklin and is currently serving as Rotary Assistant District 7670 Governor. Gibson has two daughters, Sidney and Claire. He enjoys biking, jogging, the outdoors and loves playing electric bass. He thinks Dr. John is a musical genius.
George Young, Operations Manager
George has been operations manager of WNCC and WFSC since 2007, coming to Franklin, NC from his hometown of Greenwood, SC where he served as operations manager for WHZQ-FM and WCRS-AM.
He’s a graduate of Greenwood High School (class of 1998) and Lander University, receiving a BA Degree in Mass Communications.
George began his career with WCCP-FM, where he was the producer of the “Dan Scott Show” sports talk show.
George began a morning show on WNCC-FM in the Fall of 2008 and has been the play-by-play voice for Franklin High School Athletics since the Fall of 2007. He lives in Franklin just off the “Beautiful Shores” of Lake Emory.
Benita Snyder, Office Manager
Benita began working at WFSC/WNCC Radio in Franklin in 1983 after being raised as an Army brat and living in several different states. She graduated from high school in 1979 near Ft. Benning, Georgia, and has a two-year degree from business college as an executive secretary.
Benita is married to a Macon County native, David Snyder, and they have two daughters, Sarah Lovell, age 27, and Emily Snyder, age 24, and 1 son-in law, Steve Lovell. Benita is a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Franklin where she sings in the choir and is part of the Wednesday night supper crew.
Benita has seen many changes in the world of radio over the years … having started when there were no computers, and turntables were playing “records.” Benita’s friendly voice greets you when you call; she proudly welcomes visitors to the studios, on the beautiful shores of Lake Emory in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Dustin Short, News Director
Dustin is an experienced news director, originally from Pickens, SC.
He has worked as a news director at three other markets for Georgia Carolina Radiocasting, including; Helen, GA, Lavonia, GA, and Elberton, GA.
Dustin is a graduate of Tri-County Technical College, receiving an Associate’s Degree after completing the Radio and Television Broadcasting program in 2009.
Dustin is an avid sports fan, in particular; the Clemson Tigers, Oakland Raiders, and Atlanta Braves.
Cory Watson, Account Executive
Cory B. Watson has been “THE” sales guy at WFSC and WNCC since June of 2006. Cory says, “sales is an exciting job and I kinda like the challenge! I also enjoy getting to meet and build relationships with all the fine folks in the business community around here. There sure are allot of great people in Franklin! Good people doing good things!”
He has called Franklin home since July 4th, 2002.
Cory has been happily married for over 9 years to his lovely wife Ashley, he is also the proud father to a rambunctious little girl named Emma.
He enjoys the outdoors and things like fly fishing, honing his bow hunting skills, playing guitar, and sports. Cory is a very avid football fan and follows his favorite team the Denver Broncos very closely, he also enjoys playing fantasy football because he says the real thing is a little too rough for people of his age and athletic ability. His fantasy football nickname is the “red devil” because of his can do attitude and gutsy approach.
Rob Sutton, Regional Account Executive
Rob is a native of Jackson County and calls the Ochre Hill Community his home. He and his wife Theresa are both WCU graduates. They have two children Anna 36, Allen 34 and four sweet grand children!
He enjoys meeting people and will be happy to help you grow your business in the Sylva, Cherokee and Bryson City area!
