The First Weekly Walk on the Greenway Set for Tuesday
Macon County Economic Development and Heart Disease Task Forces have joined together to try and improve the overall health and wellbeing of the county thru initiatives developed from data collected over the past 5 years. One of these healthy initiatives will kickoff this Tuesday October 17th as Macon Public health and Angel Medical center begin presenting a weekly walk on the greenway. Lyndsey Henderson with Macon Public Health explains. “It’s a 30 minute guided walk with the tasks forces and people in the community. Invite your friends your family and coworkers. We will gather and meet and have an introduction and then get to walk for 30 minutes as a group together. So not only are we getting the recommended 30 minutes of physical activity but getting to socialize and meet people in the community”
The goal in this is teaching citizens how easy it can be to get the recommended 30 minutes of physical activity in says Lynn Baker from Macon Public health. “Teaching you about how to get that 30 minutes of recommended exercise in without having to spend money.”
The First Weekly Walk on the Greenway is set for Tuesday October 17 from 12:15pm to 12:45pm at the Big Bear Park in Franklin.
