Cherokee Brings Football State Championship Home

The Cherokee Braves are 1A State Champions in Football for the first time.

The Braves took the long road trip to Raleigh to play the undefeated North Duplin Rebels at Carter-Finley Stadium, the home of NC State football.

After falling behind at the half, Cherokee roared back in the third and fourth quarters, putting up 21 points in the second half. North Duplin tried to rally late but fell short and Cherokee came away with a hard fought 21-13 victory and the 1A State Championship.

The state title is the first one the Braves have won in football.
