Conference Honors Awarded for Mountain Six, Smoky Mountain Conferences

The All-Conference Teams for the Mountain Six and Smoky Mountain Conferences have been released.

For the Mountain Six conference, Franklin’s Colton Cochran was named as Lineman of the Year, Smoky Mountain’s Nate Coffey was named Skill Player of the Year, and Franklin’s Andrew Moore was named as Special Team Player of the Year. Franklin’s Head Coach Josh Brooks was named as Coach of the Year.

As far as the All-Conference Team itself, Franklin had 11 players named as All-Conference Performers including; Grant Stiles, Bailey Watts, Zach De La Cruz, Carrington Houston, AJ Carpenter, Byron Shields, Brock Kloeppel, Daniel Pickens, Cody Crisp, Mason Sequoya, and Hunter Jamison.

Smoky Mountain had 10 players named to the team, including; Cody Lominac, Parker Flynn, Blake Curtis, Dustin Stephens, Clayton Frady, Tyler Walizer, Emmitt Baldwin, Will Frady, Cyrus Lanning, and Gage Kosnick.

For the Smoky Mountain Conference, several of the 1A State Champion Cherokee Braves and Conference Co-Champion Swain County Maroon Devils were named to the team.

The Coach of the Year Honor was split between the three conference co-champions, Cherokee’s Kent Briggs, Swain County’s Neil Blankenship, and Murphy’s David Gentry.

The Back of the Year award went to Cherokee’s standout Senior Quarterback, Tye Mintz.

The All-Conference Team was also filled with Braves and Maroon Devils. For Cherokee, 8 players were honored, including; Zak Perez, Isaiah Armachain, Byron Locust, Isaiah Evans, Tye Mintz, Holden Straughan, and Will Davis.

For Swain County, 6 players were named to the team, including; William Paul, Brodie Bowman, Holden Petty, Noland Brown, Ice Littlejohn, and Briar Younce.
