New Little Library Opens at Crawford Senior Center

A new Little Library has officially opened in Franklin.

The Macon County Senior Center held a ceremony opening the new Library on Wednesday morning.

The first Little Library was installed October 22, 2014 on Main Street in Franklin in front of town hall. Macon County Public Library partnered with Read2Me and the Friends of the Library to provide the free books for the Little Library to make it easy for everyone to choose a variety of reading material.

The inspiration for this project came from the Little Free Libraries, an organization that encourages the sharing of free books, in places where people can have easy access to reading materials. The mission of the Macon County Little Library is much the same — providing convenient access to all kinds of reading materials and learning opportunities. The Little Library concept provides a great way to get books into the hands of everyone who would like to read, especially children who may not have transportation to the main library.
