WCU Signs 4 More to Basketball Squad
Western Carolina first-year head men’s basketball coach Mark Prosser has added four student-athletes to his program entering the fall of 2018. Incoming freshmen Kameron Gibson (Cincinnati, Ohio / Walnut Hills HS) and D.J. Myers (Raleigh, N.C. / Hargrave Military Academy) are joined by junior transfers Carlos Dotson (College of Central Florida) and Mason Faulkner (Northern Kentucky).
Those four newcomers join early signee Josh Cottrell, a 6-2 guard from Hayesville, N.C., who signed a National Letter of Intent in early November 2017. Four of the five players are eligible to compete this upcoming season with Faulkner to take a redshirt as per NCAA transfer rules.
“First and foremost, each of our incoming players are great individuals away from basketball. They are about the things that we want our program to be about and that’s the main reason they’ve earned the privilege to wear the Western Carolina jersey,” said Prosser on his first incoming class at the helm at WCU. “They are all winners that come from very successful programs – some of the best in the country. We like to recruit young men that have a track record of success.”
