Macon BOE Honors Volunteers

From helping with school fundraisers to helping in classrooms, volunteers give their time in numerous ways in the Macon County School System. Last year, volunteers gave 12,861 hours to the district’s 11 schools during the 2017-2018 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Chris Baldwin and the Macon County Board of Education recognized the many volunteers for their service to our students and teachers at last week’s meeting of the board.

Volunteers at two district schools contributed over half of the hours for the district. South Macon Elementary School had the most volunteer hours with 4,629.52 followed by Cartoogechaye Elementary School with 3,296.33 hours.

Total volunteer hours for the other schools in the district include: Franklin High School 1,150.20; Iotla Valley Elementary School 1,001.90; East Franklin Elementary School 881.75; Mountain View Intermediate School 842.00; Highlands School 419.20; Nantahala School 224.20; Macon Middle School 221.65; Macon Early College 102.00; and Union Academy 92.30.
